Yorkland News & Events Yorkland High School 2018-2019 Orientation Day The new school year kick-started with an orientation day for Yorkland High School on September 04th, 2018. Principal, Johnston Bailey, welcomed incoming and returning students. The Guidance and Student Service gave a brief introduction of school guidelines.   Yorkland News & Events Waterloo Euclid Mathematics Contest The Euclid Mathematics Contest is an opportunity for students to have fun and to develop their mathematical problem solving ability. Most of the problems are based on curricula up to and including the final year of secondary school. Some content might require students to extend their knowledge and the best way to familiarize oneself with commonly appearing topics is to practice using past contests.To be eligible for a University of Waterloo, Faculty of Mathematics entrance scholarship, the Euclid Contest is a requirement.While the Euclid Contest is not required for admission to UW Math, we encourage the students to participate because it will help develop their problem solving skills and prepare them for university. Yorkland News & Events National Cup Cake Day 2018 Yorkland High School-Student Council and our volunteer students are honored to be a part of National Cup Cake event on Monday, February 26th.             National Cupcake Day is a coordinated Canadian event to support local shelters, SPCAs, and Humane Societies. Volunteer students baked and decorated cupcakes in our multi-purpose kitchen. By selling over 60 cupcakes, they were happy to raise countable donation for our furry friends.       Our Cupcake Day event had two adorable guests, Charlie and Grace.
