Art Portfolio Preparation

Yorkland High School offers individual portfolio preparation sessions for students who intend to apply to post-secondary Art or Art related programs.  

In these sessions, students prepare a strong portfolio to demonstrate their artistic ability as a critical part of the application. Our experienced Art Teacher works closely with the students in helping them understand how personal work, creative process, skills, sketchbook / journal can all contribute to their portfolio preparation. Individual sessions will also be arranged with the students to prepare for University interviews.

   

Yorkland High School works closely with experienced, certified Art teachers to create and deliver the Portfolio Preparation class according to each student’s need and working style. Over the past five years, our school has prepared our art students successfully for post-secondary programs including Architecture Environmental Design Animation Dawning & Painting Advertising Interior Design Digital Media Photography Graphic Design Fashion Design/Marketing…

Over the course, students will be encouraged to create 10-12 pieces for their academic portfolio application and show personal development in the following areas:
– Observational Drawing, Life Drawing
– Self Portrait 
– Sketchbook work showing the creative process
– Print Making
– Photography
– Sculpture / 3-D Model Making
– Media Art /Design
– Visual Journaling
– Artwork using a wide variety of mediums
– Traditional and Modern Techniques & Style development (Cubism, Realism)
