• All students are expected to attend classes regularly and complete all assignment and homework in a timely manner. Absenteeism and lateness reduce the chance of a fair performance evaluation dramatically.
  • Absence from school will be communicated to parents on daily bases
  • Students with legitimate reasons for absence must summit appropriate documentation to support their claim. Legitimate documentation may include, but is not limited to, a doctor’s note, written parent request, travel arrangements etc.
  • Students who need to leave school before the end of the school day must present a note from the parent or guardian to the office and receive permission to do so. Personal appointments should not be made during school hours. Students who leave school without permission are considered absent,
  • If the student misses more than fifteen (15) hours of class, He / she will be disciplined up to and including withdrawal from the course

  1. Classes begin daily at 9:00 a.m. and end at 4:05 p.m.
  2. Students should arrive at school in enough time to make the normal preparations required for morning classes. Students who arrive more than 10 minutes after the start of each class well be marked as “Late” on the attendance sheet
  3. Persistent lateness(in excess of three instances by more than ten minutes) will be addressed by issuing a formal warning to the student (and the parent/guardian, if the student is under the age of 18)

Plagiarism 1st offence

  • A mark of“0”for any tests/projects in which plagiarism or cheating occurs
  • No credit for the assignment and the students will be required to restart the assignment. A mark deduction ranging from 10-30% (at teacher’s discretion), will be taken from the redone assignment
  • Discussion with the guidance Counsellor
  • Incident is recorded on student record

Plagiarism 2nd offence

  • 0% given on assignment
  • Further disciplinary action may be taken by Yorkland High School, up to and including suspension or withdrawal from course
  • Parent/guardian is notified
  • Incident is recorded on student record
  • Detention

Students Responsibility

Each student has a responsibility to protect the integrity of grades by

  • not sharing answers with others;
  • not allowing others to see examinations during the testing period;
  • Mastering and using the correct procedures for documenting sources.
  • discouraging plagiarism and cheating in others;
  • reporting cases of plagiarism
  • and/or cheating to teachers, counselors, or administrators;
